Boston, Mass. – After a pair of standout performances, Clark University junior guard John Pisacreta (Andover, Mass.) has been named New England Women's And Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) men's basketball offensive player of the week it was announced on Monday by the league office.
Pisacreta averaged 25 points per game in the two contests last week as the Cougars went up against the conference's top two teams.
In a closer-than-you-think, 90-81 defeat at the hands of the nation's No. 1 team, Babson College, Pisacreta finished with a team-best 21 points on 7-for-11 shooting, including a 5-for-6 performance from behind the arc. Along with his scoring, he added four rebounds, three assists and three steals in his 31 minutes of action.
Then, in a huge 74-69 road win at MIT, he pumped in 20 of his career-high 29 points in the second half as the Cougars held on for a crucial league victory. In addition to his point total, Pisacreta provided four rebounds and three steals.
For the week, he shot 14-for-24 from the field (58 percent), including 11-for-16 (68 percent) from three-point land and was a perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line.
So far this season, Pisacreta leads the team in scoring (12.8) and ranks first in the conference in free throw percentage (88.2) and is currently riding a streak of 22 made free throws in a row.
Clark (12-7, 4-4 NEWMAC) will return to action on Wednesday when they visit Coast Guard Academy at 7:00 p.m.
