Boston, Mass. – After a breakout weekend that saw him set career-highs in nearly every statistical category, Clark University senior Andrew Musler (Belmont, Mass.) has received a pair of honors it was announced on Monday evening.
First he was named New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) men's basketball player of the week for the first time in his career and then he was named to the Worcester Area College Basketball Association (WACBA) weekly honor roll following a pair of games at the Roger Williams Marriott Courtyard Tip Off Tournament that earned him MVP honors.
In the Cougars' season-opening 65-62 win over Vassar College, Musler came off the bench and racked up 14 points, five rebounds, two assists and two steals as Clark advanced to the championship game.
Then in the title contest against Mount Ida and making his first collegiate start, Musler pumped in 24 points and hauled in 12 rebounds as the Cougars walked away with an 80-69 win.
He shot 59 percent from the field (13-for-22), including 44 percent from behind the arc (4-for-9) while averaging 19.0 points and 8.5 rebounds.
Musler and the 2-0 Cougars embark on a busy week starting with a road trip to Fitchburg State for a meeting with the Falcons at 7:00 p.m.
