Alexander (Providence, R.I.) has been named New
England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference men's basketball
player of the week for the second time this season and the third
time in his career it was announced by the conference office on
Alexander averaged 23.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.0 rebounds on 60 percent shooting in a 1-1 week for the Cougars, who went against the NEWMAC's top two teams.
In a narrow, 59-52 loss at No. 11 MIT, he registered 17 points and handed out three assists on 5-for-8 shooting.
Then, in a 71-54 upset of visiting Springfield, he scored 30 points (10-for-17 shooting) to go along with a season-high seven assists and two steals and punctuated his afternoon with a one-handed baseline dunk before being removed from the game to rousing ovation on Senior Day.
For the week, he made 15-of-25 shots and 14-of-15 free throws. He now has 1,551 career points, good for eighth on the school's all-time list.
Alexander and the Cougars, who improved to 13-10, return o the hardwood for their final home game of the regular season against Babson on Wednesday.
