Alexander Named NEWMAC Player of the Week

Babson Park, Mass. - Senior forward Mark Alexander (Providence, R.I.) has been named New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference player of the week it was announced by the conference office on Monday.

Alexander averaged 27 points and 5.5 rebounds in a pair of games at the Salem State Holiday Classic on December 29-30.

In an 86-81 win over tournament host Salem State, Alexander pumped in a game-high 23 points and hauled in seven rebounds in 35 minutes of action.

Then in a 72-71 loss to Becker College, Alexander netted a career-best 31 points on 10-for-16 shooting, while collecting four rebounds and two steals.

In the two games, he shot a 57 percent from the floor (17-for-30) and made 17 of 20 free throw attempts.

Alexander has been riding a scoring hot streak as of late, having eclipsed the 20 point mark in four straight games and is averaging 26.5 points on 66 percent shooting over that span.

A four-year starter and three-time NEWMAC All-Star, Alexander is averaging a career-best 18.8 points on 51 percent shooting.

The Cougars (8-4) open up conference play with a home tilt against Coast Guard on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
