How it Happened
Clark matched its season-high for goals in a game with seven in the victory against Becker. The Cougars wasted no time getting one on the board as junior Carden Maloney (Worcester, Mass.) deposited her ninth goal of the season off a feed from senior Mikayla Pantano (East Bridgewater, Mass.) just 1:52 into action.
The initial goal sparked the offense for the host as Lefebvre struck with her first of the night just five minutes later in unassisted fashion. Chase Collier (Lisbon, Me.) rounded out the scoring in the first period, hammering home a shot in tight through a scrum for the 3-0 advantage.
Clark was held scoreless in the second quarter, but the team came on strong again in the second half as Lefebvre sizzled a shot to the back corner of the cage just 13 seconds into the half.
Becker responded in the 34th minute when Kylian Kelly re-directed the shot from Amy Cooper for the lone blemish of the night for Cougars' goalkeeper Katie Crowley (Bolton, Mass.)
Lefebvre finished off the hat trick and buried her 12th goal of the season in the 48th minute with the passing between Pantano and Collier on a three-on-one freeing up the first-year forward to convert a chance in front of the net. Lefebvre recorded an assist on the ensuing goal, centering a pass to Abigail Cravinho (Bellow Falls, Vt.) in the circle who rifled in her seventh of the season.
The Cougars scored for the final time in the 56th minute when Kimberlie Asseng (Deerfield, Mass.) net her first goal of the season, pushing in a cross-crease setup from Anna Joyce (Hopkinton, Mass.) for the 7-1 final score.
Crowley was steady in the cage for the Cougars as the junior turned away seven of the eight shots faced to even her season record at 1-1.
Clark picked up its eighth victory of the season which marks the most in a season since 2013. The team also extended its current winning streak against Becker to 14.
Clark University returns to action in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) on Tuesday, October 22 in a 4:00 pm matchup at Springfield College.
