-The Lead: The Clark University field hockey team faced a setback to the Engineers of WPI in a NEWMAC battle that saw just one goal scored on Wednesday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-Shortly after the halftime break, sophomore Emma Bennett (Hampstead, NH) teamed with sophomore Abby O'Sullivan (Walpole, Mass.) to get the Crimson and Gray on the board at 36:33. Later in the half, freshman Angie Ferro (Northboro, Mass.) chipped the ball over the defense, but it caromed off the crossbar at 56:54.
-Clark's lone shot on-goal came off the stick of junior Julia D'Antonio (Ramsey, N.J.) following its only penalty corner at 61:14. WPI senior Karen Mushrall (Mariaville, Maine) made the stop.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
-The Engineers outshot Clark 26-4 (1-14 shots on goal).
-Senior Dani Michaud (Providence, R.I.) totaled 13 saves for the guests. Senior Olivia Barksdale (Fort Washington, Md.), sophomore Chase Collier (Lisbon, Maine) and sophomore Cheyanne Zappala (Laconia, N.H.) were also credited with a shot.
-WPI was awarded 13 of the game's 14 penalty corners.
-Clark hosts Babson College in conference play on Saturday, October 6th at 12:00 p.m.
