Worcester, Mass. – Clark University field hockey star Alyssa Williams (New Sharon, Maine) has been named to the New England Women's And Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) field hockey second-team all-conference it was announced by the league's Executive Director Patrick Summers on Tuesday morning. The award for Williams comes following a vote of the league's nine head coaches.
Williams saved her senior season for her best, starting all 18 games in the Cougar backfield, finishing with a career-best seven points.
She opened the season with an assist the game-winning Olivia Barksdale (Fort Washington, Md.) goal in a 6-5 win over Anna Maria. Her excellent passing continued as she picked up a pair of helpers in the 3-1 win over Western New England, then added another assist in the 7-1 blowout win over Daniel Webster.
After recording another assist in a loss to Husson, Williams banged home her second career goal in a 3-2 overtime loss to Wellesley.
For her career, Williams played in 66 career games, starting the final 52 in a row. She also excels academically, having been named NEWMAC Academic All-Conference three times and is a four-time National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) All-Academic Team honoree.
