Boston, Mass. – Clark University senior captain Kelly Hart (Oak Park, Ill.) has been named New England Women's And Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) field hockey offensive player of the week it was announced on Tuesday evening by the conference office.
Hart who scored two goals and had an assist in the Cougars' season-opening 6-0 win over New England College on Friday evening, picked up her first career weekly honor.
With the Scarlet and White holding a 1-0 halftime lead over the Pilgrims, Hart scored her two goals during a four-minute span that was part of a three-goal five minute stretch that put Clark ahead, 4-0 early in the second half.
She added an assist in the waning moments of the contest when she setup Zoe LaFrance-Armstrong (Old Orchard Beach, Maine) for her initial score of the 2014 season.
Hart and the rest of the Cougars return to the field on Saturday when they travel to face Worcester-area rival Becker College. That game is slated to start at 10:00 a.m.
