She shares the award with Mount Holyoke senior Tricia Chase. Melkonian has ignited the Clark offense as of late, scoring 15 points in two games last week and has scored a team-leading 27 points this season.

In the Columbus Day win over Smith, she scored a career-high four goals and added an assists as the Cougars knocked off the host Pioneers, 7-1.

Then in a thrilling, come-from-behind 4-3 overtime win against Wheaton, she scored three goals including the game-tying and the game-winning goals, lifting Clark into a first-place tie in the league standing with Wellesley at 4-1.

Through 11 games this season, she leads Clark in goals (12), points (27), shots (50) and is tied for the team lead in game-winning goals.

With the high scoring tandem of Melkonian and Lauren Blake (Oakland, Maine) leading the way, the Cougars have won five of their last six matches and have surpassed their win total from a season ago.

Melkonian will take her offensive exploits back to the field on Tuesday when Clark travels to Mount Holyoke for a 7 p.m. meeting with the Lyons.
