-The Lead: The Clark University baseball team posted 10 runs in the eighth inning en route to a 13-5 victory over the Lions of Emerson College on Tuesday afternoon. Junior Zach Kelley (Hadley, Mass.) rallied five RBIs for the Cougars in a 3-for-5 day at the plate to lift the visitors to victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-Freshman Chris Radovic (Fairfield, Conn.) started things off with a lead-off double to right field in the top of the third inning. Sophomore Ryan Ruhlin (Portland, Maine) reached on an error by the Lions and Radovic advanced to third. Sophomore Dylan Horn (Sterling, Conn.) reached on another error and Radovic was able to cross home. Senior Teddy Downing (Cambridge, Mass.) scored Ruhlin for the 2-0 advantage.
-After a 1-2-3 top of the seventh, the Lions were able to post five runs in the bottom of the inning. Senior Joey Jacobs (Concord, Mass.) reached on a Clark error and a single to right from Pablo Feldman (Mill Valley, Calif.) put him in scoring position at third. Joe Paladino (Bedminster, N.J.) sent an RBI single to left that scored Jacobs. Cam Beattie (Gilbert, Ariz.) earned two RBIs when he doubled to right field and John Gabert (Bedford, N.H.) tripled to left center for two more RBIs when Beattie and Dylan Scarfo (Upper Mountclair, N.J.) came home (5-2).
-Clark responded with a 10-run inning in the top of the eighth. Kelley posted a two RBI triple to left center and a three RBI double to center field while Radovic added two RBIs with a triple to right center to give the Cougars a 12-5 leading heading into the bottom of the eighth.
-Radovic added his third RBI of the day with his second double of the day, this time to left center, which scored Andrew Thibault (Nashua, N.H.) for the final 13-5 victory.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
-Kelley led the Cougars going 3-for-5 at the plate with five RBIs and Radovic added 3 RBIs on a 3-for-5 day at the plate.
-Freshman Sean Savage (Berkeley Heights, N.J.) went 6.1 innings on the mound for Cark and struck out one batter. Junior Daniel Davidoff (Old Tappan, N.J.) pitched 1.2 innings, struck out two batters, allowed just one hit and no runs while recording his first victory of the season.
-Gabert led the Lions going 1-for-2 at the plate with 2 RBIs. Beattie added two RBIs with a 1-for-4 day at the plate.
-Clark collected 12 hits in the victory.
