New London, Conn. – Mike Tice (Chelmsford, Mass.) threw seven shutout innings and Adam Chochrek (Foxboro, Mass.) drove in four runs as visiting Clark University beat Coast Guard 12-1 to clinch a berth in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) tournament in the final conference game of the season for both teams on Sunday afternoon.

How It Happened:
Tice (3-2) scattered five hits, walked three and struck out five to get his first win since early March.
The Cougars wasted little time getting on the scoreboard as Nick Jordan (Seaford, N.Y.) and Kyle Bonicki (Waterbury, Conn.) singled and then Jordan scored on a wild pitch. Teddy Downing (Cambridge, Mass.) walked, Bonicki scored on a throwing error and then Downing later scored on another wild pitch for the 3-0 lead.
Downing tripled and scored on a ground out by Chochrek in the third for a 4-0 lead.
Clark blew the game open with four in the fourth to take an 8-0 lead highlighted by a three-run double by Chochrek.
Jordan had an RBI single in the sixth, another run scored on an error while the third and final run of the inning came across on a double play ground out and then Kyle Shaw (Litchfield, N.H.) recorded an RBI single in the sixth making the score 12-0.
Coast Guard scored its only run in the eighth on an RBI single by Jon Pressley, who had two of the Bears eight hits in the loss.
Downing, meanwhile, tripled for the third straight game and scored three runs, giving him a hit for the 18th time in his last 19 games.
The Cougars will play a regular season non-conference contest on Monday when they face off against Keene State for the second time this season. That contest will be played at 3:30 p.m. in Keene.
