Boston, Mass. – Clark University standout shortstop Kyle Bonicki (Waterbury, Conn.) has been named New England Women's And Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) player of the week it was announced on Monday by the league office.

In a 2-0 opening weekend for the Scarlet and White, Bonicki picked up right where he left off in 2016, batting .375 and making several huge plays in the process.

First, in Saturday's 9-6 come-from-behind win over Elms, he went 1-for-3 with three runs scored and two stolen bases and was on base three times.

Then, in the dramatic 4-3, ten-inning win over Keene State on Sunday, he went 2-for-5 with an eighth inning RBI triple and then a tenth inning leadoff double. He came around to score the game-winning run, sparking a wild celebration.

In addition to his offense performance, he handled all 20 of his opportunities at shortstop without an error.

For the week, in addition to his .375 batting average, he had a .500 on-base percentage and a .750 slugging percentage, while scoring five of the teams' 13 runs and extending his hitting streak to 11 games.

Bonicki and the Cougars return to action on Saturday when they open up play in Florida with a single game against Iowa Wesleyan at 3:00 p.m. in Auburndale.
