Boston, Mass. – Marina Ramos (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) scooped up her fifth career New England Women's And Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) volleyball player of the week award it was announced on Monday afternoon by the conference office.
Ramos takes home the honor after a scintillating week in which the Cougars went 2-0 with her playing a central role in the victories.
On Tuesday, Ramos finished with 16 kills and 18 digs – her 15th double-double of the season – as the Scarlet and White raced past Wellesley, 3-0. In the process, she went over the 1,000 career dig mark.
Then in a huge non-league road win on Saturday, Ramos matched her season high with 21 kills, sending her over the 1,000-kill plateau, making her just the second player in program history to reach 1,000 kills and digs in a career.
For the week Ramos averaged 5.29 kills and 3.14 digs per set as Clark improved to 15-7 overall and have now won five of their last six matches and three straight.
So far this season, Ramos ranks third in the conference in kills per set (3.80) and is fifth in total digs (333).
The Cougars return to action on Tuesday with a huge road contest at Wheaton and then host a tri-match on Saturday featuring Bates and Worcester State.
