Boston, Mass. – Freshman Marina Ramos (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) has been named New England Women's And Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Volleyball Co-Player Of The Week it was announced on Monday afternoon by the league office.
The award for Ramos, which is shared with Wheaton's Deirdre Wilson, is the first time a Clark volleyball student-athlete has received the award since Maritza Fair '12 was honored during the 2008 season.
Ramos played a huge part in the Scarlet and White's first win over league rival Wellesley since 2004 when the Cougars rallied for a thrilling 3-2 win in their lone match of the week on Tuesday. She finished with match-highs of 17 kills and 17 digs - her ninth double-double of the year - helping Clark keep its postseason hopes alive.
In her first season, Ramos has emerged as one of the premier attackers in the conference, ranking fifth in the league in kills per set (3.31) and tenth in total kills (235) while also ranking fourth in service aces per set (0.51) and seventh in total aces (36).
The Cougars, who are 8-12 overall and more importantly, 2-5 in conference contests will travel to Wheaton to face Wilson and the Lyons (15-10, 4-3 league) in a crucial NEWMAC match on Tuesday, October 21.
