Suriano Advances At ITA's Then Withdraws

Wellesley, Mass. – Clark University freshman Gaby Suriano (San Salvador, El Salvador) advanced to the round of 32 with a straight set victory on Friday afternoon at the Wilson/ITA Division III Women’s Regional Championships co-hosted by Wellesley and Babson Colleges.

Suriano defeated NEWMAC foe Nicole Anderson of Smith College 6-0, 6-1 but will withdraw from the tournament due to an undisclosed injury.

The setback for Suriano seems to be the only thing that could slow down the hot start to her college career. Entering the regional championships, she was 4-0 at No. 1 singles and has been named the NEWMAC Player of the Week two times this season.
