Cougars Stumble At Simmons, 7-2

Boston, Mass. – The Clark University women’s tennis team suffered its first loss of the season, dropping a 7-2 decision to host Simmons College on Thursday afternoon at the Winsor School.

The Cougars (1-1) victories came at No. 1 doubles and No. 1 singles with freshman Gabby Suriano (San Salvador, El Salvador) playing a hand in both wins.

At No. 1 doubles, Suriano teamed with classmate Sarah Sachs (Branford, Conn.) to post an 8-5 victory.

Then playing at No. 1 singles, Suriano posted an easy 6-1, 6-1 win over the Sharks’ Sabrina Salmela.

Clark returns to action on Saturday when they open NEWMAC action at Wheaton beginning at 1:00 p.m.
