Three Cougars Honored By The NEWMAC
Babson Park, Mass. – Three Clark women’s tennis players picked up weekly awards it was announced by the conference office on Monday.
The doubles tandem of Julia Bergeron (Lewiston, Maine) and Emily Schweitzer (Northampton, Mass.) was named NEWMAC Co-Doubles team of the week, while freshman Gabby Suriano (San Salvador, El Salvador) was tabbed as the conference’s singles player of the week.
The combination of Bergeron/Schweitzer rolled to an 8-3 victory over Danielle Stryker/Shauna McNally at No. 1 doubles in the Cougars first match of the season.
Suriano, meanwhile, playing in her first collegiate match, rolled to a straight set victory at No. 1 in the Cougars season opening 7-2 win over Becker. She defeated Megan Nessen, 6-0, 6-0 for her first ever win.
Clark returns to the courts on Thursday when they host Simmons College beginning at 5:00 p.m.
