Cougars Take Down Emmanuel, 6-3

Worcester, Mass. – Host Clark University picked up its second win of the season with a 6-3 win over visiting Emmanuel College on Wednesday evening in women’s tennis action at the Corash Tennis Courts.

The Cougars (2-2) continue to get outstanding performances from freshman Gaby Suriano (San Salvador, El Salvador), who rolled to her fourth straight victory at No. 1 singles with a 6-0, 6-0 win.

Clark also got a victory at No. 2 singles from freshman Sarah Sachs (Branford, Conn.), who knocked off Megan Harrington, 6-3, 6-2.

Suriano and Sachs picked up an 8-3 win for Clark at No. 1 doubles, their second victory in three tries as a duo.

The day’s best match was at No. 5 singles where the Cougars’ Maggie Swann (Portland, Maine) defeated the Saints’ Ali Shakra 6-3, 4-6 and won the tie breaker, 10-8.

Clark visits Rhode Island College on Thursday, while Emmanuel visits Simmons on the same day.
