Clark Preps For NEWMACs With Cougar Invitational

Worcester, Mass. – Three different student-athletes won individual events as the Clark University closed out its 2016-17 home schedule with the non-scoring Cougar Invitational on Saturday at the Kneller Athletic Center Pool.

Prior to the start of the event, the program honored its five seniors – Niki Lew (Auburndale, Mass.), Melissa Orzechowski (Windsor, Conn.), Lara Prosterman (San Francisco, Calif.), Karina Urquhart (Sanford, Maine) and Ariel Vaughan (West Haven, Conn.).

What Else Happened?:

  • Quinn Mitchell (West Hartford, Conn.) took top honors in the 500-yard freestyle (5:37.26) and then was second in the 100-yard butterfly (1:01.54) and the 200-yard butterfly (2:20.01).
  • Urquhart finished first in the 200-yard backstroke (2:22.07) and she was second in the 100-yard backstroke (1:07.23).
  • Orzechowski was first in the 200-yard IM (2:18.33) and in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:46.22).
  • Sasha Kumar (Canyon Country, Calif.) churned out a fifth-place effort in the 100-yard backstroke (1:15.97).

Up Next:
Clark is off until they take part in the NEWMAC Championships beginning next Thursday.
