Worcester, Mass. – In preparation for the 2017 season, the Clark University women's soccer team is heading abroad for once-in-a-lifetime trip that will expose them to history, culture while getting ready for what should be an exciting regular season campaign.
"We are beyond excited and grateful for this once in a lifetime opportunity," said head coach Brie Smith, who will be entering her fourth season this fall. "We want to thank the many alumni, family, and friends that donated to our program to help make this trip a reality."
The eight-day sojourn will commence on August 9 and end on August 16 and along the way 17-member party will experience Barcelona, Spain while playing three matches against some of the best teams in Spain.
Without question, the highlight of the trip will be getting the opportunity to see the Supercopa de Espana. The Spanish Super Cup is a football (soccer) championship featuring the winners of La Liga and Copa del Rey and this year's matchup will be between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid – two of the world's most-recognized clubs.
"We look forward to competing, exploring the beautiful and historic sights of Barcelona and growing closer as a team during this this awesome adventure," said Smith.
