Cougars Blanked By Allegheny, 2-0

Worcester, Mass. – Visiting Allegheny College got a goal in each half and posted their second straight shutout with a 2-0 win over Clark (Mass.) University at the Granger Soccer Complex on Saturday afternoon.

The Gators (2-0) outshot the Cougars 9-3 and controlled the ball for a large portion of the contest.

After Molly Waggoner (North Syracuse, N.Y.) hit the post with a shot from just outside the box in the 22nd minute, Allegheny finally broke through on a goal by Nicole Mascia (Smithtown, N.Y.) at the 26:43 mark.

Clark had a chance to even the score in the first half but freshman Jen O’Rourke (Somerset, Mass.) had her chip from just inside the box turned back by Gator netminder Emily Carr (Wexford, Pa.).

Georgia Frost (Weston, Conn.) put the contest away in the 56th minute when she found the back of the net with an unassisted tally.

Carr needed to only make two saves for Allegheny to record the blanking, while Joanna Clark (Windham, Maine) made three saves in net for the Cougars.

Both teams return to action on Sunday. The Gators will play at Western New England College, while Clark visits Elms College.
