Clark, O'Rourke Named All-Conference

Babson Park, Mass. – Two members of the Clark University soccer team have been named New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) All-Conference it was announced by the conference office on Tuesday.

Senior Megan O’Rourke (Somerset, Mass.) and graduate student Joanna Clark (Windham, Maine) were both named to the second-team, marking the third straight year in which the Cougars have had two players earn all-conference honors.

For O’Rourke, her selection to the 2010 squad gives her back-to-back seasons in which she was named to the second-team. She was one of only two Clark players to start all 17 games this season and she finished second on the team in goals (3) and points (6). The honor caps a standout career for the two-time team captain, who started 66 consecutive games over her four-year career.

Clark, meanwhile, becomes one of two four-time all-conference honorees in women’s soccer school history with her selection this season. Since joining the team in 2007, she started all 71 games in goal for the Cougars, helping Clark advance to the NEWMAC Tournament on three separate occasions. In 2009, she posted eight shutouts en route to a first-team all-conference nod and All-New England honors. During her final season, Clark registered a 1.22 goals against average and totaled five shutouts, giving her 25 blankings during her illustrious career.

The Scarlet and White wrapped up the 2010 season with a 7-10 overall record and winners of their final two contests.
