Garcia Named NEWMAC Diver Of The Week

Babson Park, Mass. – For the second time in three weeks and the 11th time in her illustrious career, Clark senior All-American Eileen Garcia (New York, N.Y.) has been named New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women’s diver of the week it has been announced by the conference office.

Garcia was phenomenal in Saturday’s dual meet against NEWMAC rival Coast Guard, setting pool records on both the 1-meter and 3-meter boards.

It marks the third consecutive season in which she has established a new pool mark on the 3-meter board at Coast Guard, first posting a 303.90 as a sophomore in 2010, then bumping that number to 314.45 as a junior in 2011.

Then on Saturday, she not only pushed that mark to 318.10 but also established a new facility high on the 1-meter board (288.65).

Garcia and the rest of her teammates will return to action on Wednesday with a meet against crosstown rival WPI. The meet, which is a WPI home event, will serve as senior night for the Cougars.
