Cougar Men, Women Fifth At Cardinal Invite

Middletown, Conn. – Seniors Ryan Garr (North Kingstown, R.I.) and Eileen Garcia (New York, N.Y.) each posted individual victories as both the Clark men and women's swimming and diving programs finished in fifth place at the five-team Cardinal Invite hosted by Wesleyan University on Saturday and Sunday.

WPI claimed the men's team crown with 1281.5 points, while the Hamilton College women were victorious with 951 points.

The Cougar men finished with 488.5 points and the women 619.

Garr blazed his way to a first place finish in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 53.38, more than a second and half ahead of the second place finisher.

Then in the 200-yard backstroke, he was nearly four seconds ahead of his nearest competitor, touching the wall at 1:58.30.

Garcia, meanwhile, took home the three-meter diving title for the third consecutive season at this event, posting a score 259.05. She also finished second on the one-meter board, totaling a score of 233.10.

Clark is off until January 13 when they host Wheaton and Mount Holyoke.
