Relays, Garcia Shine In Loss At Coast Guard

New London, Conn. — Clark University senior All-American Eileen Garcia (New York, N.Y.) set pool records on both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving boards but both Cougar squads fell to host Coast Guard Academy on Saturday afternoon in a NEWMAC swimming and diving dual meet.

The Bears posted a 134-108 win on the women's side, while the Clark men dropped a 133-92 decision.

Garcia recorded a 288.65 on the 1-meter, and then broke her own pool mark with a 318.10 on the 3-meter board.

Freshman Natalie Omary (New York, N.Y.) registered a first-place finish for the Cougars in the 200-yard butterfly (2:19.95), while junior Mollie Kleyboecker (Albuquerque, N.M.) added a win in the 200-yard backstroke (2:16.19).

The 400-yard freestyle team of Karissa Senterfitt (Mission Viejo, Calif.), Lydia Berry (Kennebunk, Maine), Sarah Shepro (Brookline, Mass.) and Liz Barker (Augusta, Maine) touched the wall first in a time of 4:09.69.

On the men's side, Ryan Garr (Kingston, R.I.) won the 200-yard backstroke (1:58.57) and Jack Hall (McLean, Va.) was first in the 500-yard freestyle (5:19.13), while Cooper Hart (Palos Verdes Estates, Calif.) turned in a first-place performance in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:31.90).

The 400-yard freestyle relay contingent of Josh Kent (Longmeadow, Mass.), Alex Kappel (Rye, N.H.), Clive Green (Portmore, Jamaica) and Tim Sistare (Westford, Mass.) also placed first with a time of 3:31.57.

Both Cougar teams will be back in action on Wednesday when they face WPI on Senior Night.
