Gimme Five! Garcia Named NEWMAC Diver of the Week Again
Worcester, Mass. - For the fifth time this
season and second week in a row, Clark sophomore Eileen
Garcia (New York, N.Y.) has been named the New England
Women's and Men's Athletic Conference women's diver of the week it
was announced by the conference office.
In the Cougars' first dual meet loss of the season - a 165-135
defeat to Coast Guard - Garcia had one of the best diving
performances on the three-meter board in the country this season.
She smashed her own school-record of 299.65 with a mind-boggling
303.90, erasing the pool record as well.
On the one-meter board, she turned in another school-record
performance of 281.25, erasing the mark established by Hall of
Famer Beth Ferraro from the Class of 1988, placing
her name in front of all four diving records in the Clark record
books.
She is just the fourth woman in Division III this season to break
300 and is the only diver with two performances that rank in the
top five this season. Garcia also becomes the first male or female
to top 300 in Clark history.
Garcia and her Cougar teammates will return to the pool on
Wednesday when they host cross town rival WPI in the final home
meet for the Class of 2010.
