Garcia Named Third-Team Academic All-District

Worcester, Mass. - Sophomore diving sensation Eileen Garcia (New York, N.Y.) was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District I At-Large Third Team it was recently announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

A communication and culture major with a 3.43 grade point average, Garcia is a two-time All-America and was named the 2010 NEWMAC Diver of the Year.

A two-time NEWMAC Diving Champion, she holds all the women's diving records in Clark history and was featured in Sports Illustrated's Faces in the Crowd in late February.

Last season she was named NEWMAC Diver of the Week six times, broke several pool records and repeated as the Worcester City Championships Diver of the Meet.

She was one of 33 honorees in the College Division, which is comprised of NCAA Division II and III and NAIA programs in New England, New York and Eastern Canada.

At-large athletes participate in bowling, crew, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming and diving, tennis and water polo.
