Allen Named Second-Team All-Conference
Babson Park, Mass. – Clark freshman Maya Allen (Concord, Mass.) has been named New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) second-team all-conference it was announced on Wednesday.
Allen earns the award after a standout inaugural campaign at second base for the Cougars. She started all 33 games for Clark and led the team in batting average (.327), hits (33), doubles (5), on-base percentage (.414) and walks (14).
She was as equally impressive in the field as she was at the plate, handling 145 opportunities with just five errors – good for a team-leading .967 field percentage.
Allen excelled during the conference season as well, hitting a robust .365 in 16 games.
The Cougars wrapped up the 2011 season with a berth in the NEWMAC Tournament, where they went 2-2 and finished with a 16-17 record overall.
