Worcester, Mass. – The Clark University rowing program wrapped up one of their most impressive season in recent memory with their performance at the 2016 National Invitational Rowing Championships (NIRC) on Lake Quinsigamond on Sunday afternoon.
The women's varsity eight with coxswain Kate Barnett (West Simsbury, Conn.), and Lydia Warters (Simsbury, Conn.), Sarah Fisher (Teaneck, N.J.), Halley Glier (Shelburne, Mass.), Jacqueline Jimenez-Maldonado (San Francisco, Calif.), Cailyn Keely (Takoma Park, Md.), Emily Thibault (Williamsville, Vt.), Brooke Wilson (Fairbanks, Alaska) and Emily Ladda (Farmington, Conn.) finished seventh in their heat, posting a time of 8:14.4. They then took first in the final four consolation heat, blazing to the finish line in 7:24.08, edging out Connecticut College 7:24.77.
Meanwhile, the women's four with coxswain Wenlen Lawrence (Austin, Texas) and Mackenzie Satalino (East Hartford, Conn.), Aubrey Hulbert (Reno, Nev.), Niki Lew (Auburndale, Mass.) and Holly Bauer (Portland, Conn.) advanced to the grand final, finishing in 8:48.50, good for fourth after turning in a third place showing in their opening heat (10:14.04).
