Cougars Take Part In 47th Annual Head Of The Charles

Boston, Mass.  – Both the Clark University men’s and women’s rowing programs participated in the 47th annual Head of the Charles Regatta on Sunday afternoon on the Charles River which separates Boston and Cambridge.

The Cougar squads both took part in the collegiate fours at the legendary event, with the men finishing 35th out of 40 and the women taking 32nd of 33 teams.

On the men’s side, the Clark four (Cox - Alex Bird, Stroke - Wade Packer, Three - Doug Crellin, Two - Steve Joy, Bow - David Brown) finished in 19:47.22, a little more than three minutes behind event winner, the University of Virginia (16:57.50).

The women’s four (Cox - Genevieve DeAngelis, Stroke - Meaghan Connors, Three - Samantha Thompson, Two - Lily Morganstern, Bow - Katy Nowoswiat) finished in a time of 21:48.19, which would have put them in 25th place, but they were assessed a 1:00 penalty and actually finished 32nd of 33 teams.

Both teams will be back in action on Sunday when they take part in the Quinsigamond Novice Challenge.
