Cougars 7th At NEWMAC Championships

Northampton, Mass. – John Allard (Smithfield, R.I.) led the Clark University men's cross country team with a 20th place individual finish as the Cougars finished seventh at the New England Women' And Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) cross country championships on Saturday morning on the Smith College campus.

Allard completed the 8K layout in 27:02 marking the second straight season in which the Scarlet and White have had a top 20 performer.

MIT, the only champion the league has ever known, had the top seven finishers including individual champion Spencer Wenck, who ran slightly more than a five minute mile to break the tape in 25:13.

Freshman Alex Hull (Mount Laurel, N.J.) crossed the finish line next for Clark, churning out a 38th place effort in 28:31, while Seamus O'Connor (Granby, Mass.) was right on his heels in 39th with a time of 28:34.

The Cougars' final two scoring runners were Timothy Conley (Walpole, Mass.), who finished 42nd (28:55) and Rhys Duquette (Holyoke, Mass.) in 45th place (29:06).

Clark is now off until Saturday, November 15 when they run in the NCAA Division III Regionals at Mount Greylock High School.
