Boston, Mass. – For the third time in his career, Clark University senior Spencer Brightman (Sudbury, Mass.) has been named to the New England Women's And Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) men's tennis academic all-conference team it was announced by Executive Director Patrick Summers.
In order to be honored, student-athletes must have earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale or 4.35 on a 5.0 scale after the 2013 spring semester, achieved second year academic status at their institution, and been a member of the varsity team for the entire season.
A biology major, Brightman has a 3.76 cumulative grade point average.
Brightman played a role in the resurgence of the tennis program at Clark, helping the Cougars to three straight league tournament appearances and 39 win over the last three seasons.
For his career, Brightman went 12-7 in singles matches playing between No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6. He also fared well in doubles matches, going 18-13 at No. 2 and No. 3.
Brightman also took part in the University's first-ever service learning trip to Guatemala in January 2014.
