Kohawks Breeze Past Clark, 9-0

Altamonte Springs, Fla. – Clark University – playing their second match of the day – ran into a buzzsaw on Tuesday night as undefeated Coe (Iowa) College ran its season-opening winning streak to 14 matches with a 9-0 win over the Cougars at Sanlando Park.

The Kohawks, who advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament a season ago and finished with a 23-8 overall record, handed Clark its first 9-0 defeat since a season-ending defeat at the hands of MIT in April of 2010 – nearly three seasons ago.

Coe won all six of the singles matches in straight sets, including Riley Galbraith topping Diego Angel (Lima, Peru), 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1.

Zack Goodstein (Columbus, Ohio) and Dan Stein (Newton, Mass.) put up the best fight in doubles action before eventually dropping an 8-5 decision to Jeff Damisch and Michael Woolf at No. 2.

Clark (3-4) has little time to rebound as they play two more matches on Wednesday beginning with a 12:00 p.m. start against Christopher Newport.
