Cougars Open Up Fall Play With 6-3 Loss To Stonehill

Easton, Mass. – Host Stonehill College posted a 6-3 victory over Clark University in its first dual match of the season in non-conference men's tennis action at Charles Watt Tennis Courts this evening.

Junior Aaron Bergeron sophomore Chris Martin and freshman Conor Fallon were all double-winners for Stonehill.

Bergeron and Martin first teamed up for an 8-6 decision at second doubles for the Skyhawks, while Fallon combined with junior Jonathan Burke for an 8-3 win at third doubles.

Martin breezed to a 6-0, 6-0 win over Clark sophomore Harris Rollinger (Lexington, Mass.) at third singles and Bergeron picked up a 6-2, 6-0 win over sophomore Dan Paradee (Gardiner, Maine) at fifth singles. Fallon notched a 6-2, 6-3 win in his collegiate debut over senior Nathan Maltais (Seabrook, N.H.) at sixth singles.

Sophomore Diego Angel (Lima, Peru) was a double-winner for Clark, picking up a 7-6 (7-3), 6-0 win over senior Tim Fayed at first singles after teaming up with Rollinger for an 8-5 victory over Fayed and freshman Nicholas Hyzak at first doubles.

Stonehill is back in action this weekend when it participates in the Wilson/ITA Division II East Regional, hosted by Chestnut Hill College, in Philadelphia on Saturday and Sunday.

Clark returns to action on Friday, September 24, for the Wilson/ITA Division III Regionals, hosted by Williams College.
