Men's Swimming and Diving Competes at Gompei Invitational

Worcester, Mass.--The Clark University men's swimming and diving team competed in the 2017 Gompei Invititational over the weekend. The Cougars competed alongside 12 other institutions: Assumption College, Bentley, Brandeis, Bryant University, Babson College, Merrimack College, Stevens Institute of Technology, The College of Saint Rose, Rowan University, Roger Williams University, Southern Connecticut State University, and Worcester Poytechnic Institute of Technology. Rowan University took the top team score of the weekend finishing with 4920 points.

Men's Swimming and Diving

Day One

Freshman Konstantin Drallios (Queens, N.Y.) finished the Men's 200 IM in a personal best 2:06.98 to take 28th/55. Drallios and Bill Holloman (Avon, Conn.) placed at the top for Clark in the Men's 200 Yard Breaststroke. Drallios finished in a personal best 2:17.07 while Holloman touched in 2:18.29. Holloman took 12th place in the 200 Yard Breaststroke Preliminaries with a personal best 2:17.56 finish. Senior Steven Castiglione (North Haven, Conn.) placed 7th/17 in the Men's Diving 1M. He went on to place 9th in the finals with a score of 330.35.

Day Two

Drallios finished 25th/44 in the 400 Yard IM in the preliminary round with a personal best time of 4:30.49. He placed 6th/30 in the finals. Juniors Julian Ortega (West Palm Beach, Fla.) and Dylan Schrama (Tunton, Mass.) finished the 50 Yard Butterfly preliminaries back to back in personal best times of 24.75. Ortega topped that time in the finals with a 24.72 finish. Holloman finished 19/30 in the 100 Yard Breaststroke finals in a personal best time of 1:02.40. Sophomore Rowan Moody (Ellington, Conn.) took 7th place in the men's 3M diving finals scoring 313.60

Day Three

Schrama finished in the top 50% in the Men's 500 IM finals in 57.62 while Holloman earned 7th place in the men's 50 Yard Breaststroke finals (28.14).
