Van Noppen’s Goals Get National Acclaim And ESPN Coverage

Worcester, Mass. – For the second time this season, Clark sophomore Will Van Noppen (Providence, R.I.) has received national acclaim for his right foot.

Last Saturday in an eventual 2-1 loss to Wheaton, Van Noppen opened the game with a blast from center circle that crossed the goal line in just four seconds – tying the NCAA record for the fastest goal in men's soccer history. Footage of that video made its way to ESPN and was featured on that network's SportsCenter's Top Plays at No. 2 on its October 6-7 shows.

The honor for Van Noppen was not the first time his soccer prowess has found him on the "Worldwide Leader In Sports." Back on September 1, Van Noppen scored a goal in just four seconds to start the second half, a feat that also made Top Plays on September 3. That goal was slotted at No. 3 on the list and marked the first time ever a Clark student-athlete made an appearance on the show's highly popular segment.

It is estimated that over Sportscenter has over one million viewers at its peak on the 11:00 p.m. EST show and anywhere from 600,000 to 750,000 viewers at any other of their 12 broadcasts throughout the day.
