Field Hockey First-years Shine in 2-1 Win Over Nichols

Worcester, MA...Clark University field hockey defeated Nichols College 2-1 to win their second straight game. The Cougars offense got off to an early start with an unassisted goal by first-year Chase Collier (Lisbon, Maine) just over two minutes into the game. This marked Collier's third goal of the season. The Cougars entered the half with a 1-0 advantage and a 10-2 shot advantage and slim 2-1 advantage in penalty corners.

Nichols's junior Courtney White (Orange, Mass.) evened the score at one apiece on an unassisted goal at the 46th minute. Clark answered with the eventual game-winner in the 59th minute with first-year's Carden Maloney (Worcester, Mass.) first career goal. Junior Olivia Barksdale (Fort Washington, Md.) recorded the assist and her second assist of the season.

The Cougars held a slim 19-16 overall advantage in shots and 7-3 penalty corner advantage.

First-year Brooke Mongeon (East Providence, R.I) had four saves for the Bison. Clark's Dani Michaud (Providence, R.I.) had nine saves in the win.

The Cougars improve to 2-0 while the Bison evened their record at 1-1.

Nichols returns to Dudley for their home opener on Saturday, September 9 against Thomas for a 1 p.m. start. Clark will travel to WNEC on Saturday for a 1 p.m. start.
