Worcester, Mass. – Clark University ace pitcher Derek Dubois (Haverhill, Mass.) has been named to the 2014 All-Worcester Area First Team it was announced on Tuesday afternoon following a vote of the area's sports information directors.
This marks Dubois second straight selection to the team following his second-team nod in 2013. It also continues an impressive stretch of awards for the hard-throwing right-hander who has seen the accolades roll in.
Twice this season he was named New England Women's And Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Pitcher of the Week (March 25, April 14). Early last week, meanwhile, he was named to the league's first-team all-conference after a stellar final campaign.
In 2014, Dubois finished with a 5-2 overall record, posting a 3.52 ERA with one complete game in seven starts and had a better than 2-to-1 strikeout-to-walk ratio. He finished second in the league in wins (5) and shutouts (1), fourth in strikeouts (44) and tenth in innings pitched (53.2).
He had several strong outings, including a one-hit, 11 strikeout performance against Emerson on March 22 and a complete game eight-hitter in a 9-0 win over Springfield on April 12.
The season followed an impressive summer in which he starred in the Future Collegiate Baseball League (FCBL) where he earned league all-star status and North Shore Navigators Pitcher of the Year accolades.
In 31 career starts, Dubois has a 12-10 record with 148 strikeouts. He ranks sixth in all-time ERA (4.25), second in strikeouts per nine innings (8.74), third in wins (12) and second in strikeouts (148).
