Kopec Named NEWMAC Player of the Week

Babson Park, Mass. - Clark junior catcher Kevin Kopec (Katonah, N.Y.) was named New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) player of the week it was announced on Monday afternoon by the conference office.

Kopec hit a sizzling .533 (8-for-15) in four games as the Cougars backstop during a 2-2 week. Of his eight hits, three were for extra bases, including a double, triple and a home run.

He had a pair of three hit games, including a 3-for-4, three RBI performance with a double and a homerun in a win over Babson, then ranked No. 1 in New England by the NEIBA.

Then in a loss to Springfield, he went 3-for-5 with an RBI to extend his hitting streak to ten games.

Defensively, he threw out 7-of-9 runners attempting to steal while he was behind the plate.

Clark returns to action on Tuesday with a crucial NEWMAC contest at Babson.
