Clark Athletics Taking Part In Several Initiatives

Worcester, Mass. – The Clark University Department of Athletics is sponsoring several initiatives as the end of the University’s first semester approaches.

On Saturday, December 11 in conjunction with the women’s basketball game against Salem State the baseball team will be collecting toys and donations for Toys for Tots Marine Foundation of Worcester. People can donate any unwrapped (unpackaged) toy or give a monetary donation. Members of the baseball team will be on hand to assist with collection. If you have any questions, contact head baseball coach Jason Falcon (jfalcon@clarku.edu).

As part of their fund raising effort to help defray some of the cost for their annual spring break trip to Florida, the Clark softball team will be selling Clark Cougar decals for five dollars. You can purchase these decals from any current member of the softball team or by contacting head coach Linda Wage (lwage@clarku.edu).

Field Hockey student-athletes Amanda Mundt and Kate McGrath will be traveling to Les Cayes, Haiti with a non-profit organization based in Amherst, Mass. called Opportunities for Communities (OfC).  OfC works with three communities (students, adult donors and experts, and residents of Les Cayes) to design and implement sustainable development programs such as micro-loan projects and vocational training.

One way OfC has and continues to do this is through sponsorship of soccer teams. Equipment is expensive in Haiti, so they are collecting new and used soccer equipment (balls, cleats, etc) to bring with them. A box will be in the Kneller Center lobby until the end of the semester.

If you have any questions, please contact Kate McGrath (kmcgrath@clarku.edu) or Amanda Mundt (amundt@clarku.edu).
