Clark Student-Athletes Trick Or Treat For Canned Goods

Worcester, Mass. – Back on October 29 more than 50 Clark University student-athletes collected canned goods and non-perishable items that they donated to the Worcester County Food Bank.

The event dubbed, “Trick or Treat For Canned Goods” has been an ongoing partnership with the Food Bank and the University’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).

“Thanks once again to the Clark University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee for their generosity of time, effort, and enthusiasm in conducting their annual food drive to support the Worcester County Food Bank in its mission to create a hunger-free community,” said Lois Pare, Director of Programs and Operations at the Worcester County Food Bank.”

One week prior to the collection of the goods, student-athletes went door-to-door with flyers, alerting members of the neighborhood about their need for items to donate.

After the items were collected they were sorted by members of the SAAC Executive Board then transported to the Worcester County Food Bank for weighing and eventual distribution to needy familes and individuals in central Massachusetts.

“This year’s donation of 625 pounds of food brought SAAC’s total donation for the past four years to over 3800 pounds of food, which goes directly to providing help and hope to families in the Worcester community,” said Pare. “Our thanks to the Clark University Student-Athletes for continuing to reach out and give their best to the greater community.”
